Background:
A client specializing in high-performance storage solutions had developed a Multiprotocol Storage Virtualization ASIC aimed at improving storage efficiency by supporting multiple storage protocols. However, the client needed assistance in implementing software support for iSCSI, Fibre Channel (FC), and SCSI protocols, as well as porting RTLinx to the StrongARM architecture to integrate with embedded storage systems. The goal was to create a versatile storage solution that could seamlessly interact with various storage networks and provide flexible, high-performance management tools.
Solution:
We helped the client implement software stacks for iSCSI, Fibre Channel (FC), and SCSI, enabling their storage ASIC to support a wide range of protocols for network storage communication. We also successfully ported RTLinx software to the StrongARM processor, ensuring compatibility with embedded storage systems for real-time monitoring and control. Additionally, we worked on optimizing the ASIC’s firmware for high-performance data transfer and storage virtualization.
Outcome:
The collaboration resulted in a highly flexible and scalable storage solution that supported multiple protocols and could be integrated into industrial environments. The new system allowed for seamless communication across various storage networks, improving performance and simplifying management, ultimately enhancing the client’s product offering and expanding its market potential.
